|Clan Davidson crosses the Scottish Border to Northumberland, |
|This year for the first time, Clan Davidson crosses the Scottish Border to Northumberland, an area which has many Davidson family history connections. Our annual Gathering will be held in Hexham, an attractive small town in Border reivers country. Clan members from many locations, with their families and friends, are already making plans to join us. |
Our weekend begins with an informal meal on Friday evening, providing a chance to meet and socialise with many Davidsons and Davisons. On Saturday afternoon, our Clan Genealogist & Historical Researcher will give an illustrated talk about Davidson connections and family history in the area. Our formal Clan dinner takes place on Saturday evening, and we will be enjoying entertainment from local musicians.
Hexham is a good centre to explore the many tourist attractions in the area. In the 19th century, Susan Davidson created trails in the ancient woodlands of nearby Allen Banks Gorge. Hadrian's Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and there are spectacular archeological remains at Housesteads and Vindolanda forts. Northumberland coastal castles including Dunstanburgh, Warkworth, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh are within easy reach.
